ʻUlu o Lele marketplace opens Nov. 10 on Lahaina’s Front Street
ʻUlu o Lele, an interim marketplace for Lahaina small businesses, celebrates its grand opening Nov. 10 at the former Outlets of Maui site on Front Street. It’s the first storefront project back on Front Street since the 2023 fire.
Maui County and the Hawaiian Council, with support from the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, built the roughly 3-acre site with 17 small retail units, eight food trucks and a stage. Rents were expected to run $800 to $1,500 a month, and the Hawaiian Council said the market will help sustain about 90 jobs.
The celebration starts at 1 p.m. with vendor spotlights and a Maui music showcase, and ends with a free Common Kings concert from 8:15 to 9:15 p.m.
What it means: Fire-displaced businesses get a storefront in town again while permanent rebuilding continues.
