Kauaʻi hotel revenue falls 41% after Lowell as statewide numbers hold

Kauaʻi hotel room revenue fell 40.7% in September after Hurricane Lowell, according to STR data reported by The Garden Island. Occupancy on Kauaʻi dropped to 47.2%. Statewide, occupancy was flat at 69.7%, while the average room rate rose 3.2% to $324.

Maui posted nearly 21% revenue growth, and Oʻahu and Hawaiʻi Island grew steadily. Hotel leaders said the gains are measured against a weak fall 2025, and one Waikīkī manager said some hotels are discounting to about $99 a night.

What it means: Kauaʻi workers and businesses that depend on visitors are still feeling the hurricane. Hotel leaders expect a slow October.
