Kona storm closed East Maui. Multiple blockages made Hāna Highway impassable into East Maui, with the road closed from around Twin Falls to all but local traffic.

The highway is narrow, with hundreds of curves and dozens of one-lane bridges. Storms often bring landslides and fallen trees. Check closures the morning you go, never stop on the road, and let local drivers pass.
