Shots fired at police in Kailua; stray bullet hits ʻAiea school
A man was arrested this week on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer after he allegedly fired a long gun at officers responding to a domestic abuse call in Kailua’s Enchanted Lake neighborhood. He barricaded himself inside before surrendering, and no one was hurt, Honolulu police said.
In a separate case, a man faces a federal gun charge after a road-rage shooting near an ʻAiea elementary school, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported. Federal prosecutors say the bullet missed the other driver and hit a school building while classes were in session. No one was injured, and the state Department of Education said the school was briefly placed on lockdown at the time.
What to do: If you see something during an active police scene, stay away and follow HPD alerts. Call 911 for emergencies.
